I have loved sassafras trees since I was a kid and we had a lot of them growing near the edge of our property, along a ditch - they are beautiful trees, AND they provide food and shelter for some of the great North American moths, like Prometheus and Cecropia! We would look for their larva and cocoons so we could watch them hatch, and the fall leaf color of the trees was just lovely! F
